This album has so much talent and emotion on display. Somehow weaving prog, metal and latin influences to create something unique and beautiful. Midnight Priestess
Sludgy post-metal has its greats: Neurosis effectively started the sub-genre, Isis gave us the all-time best effort in Panopticon, Cult of Luna is consistently excellent (if not quite my cup of tea), and Obscure Sphinx is just about the equal of all of the above, albeit way more under-appreciated. Void Mother is among the best albums of the bunch, and certainly the best from Obscure Sphinx. Heavy, hypnotic, and emotionally resonant, this is great - and it gets better with subsequent listens.
